LEADING WITH LOVE

Our Unique Approach: Healing with Care

“Leading with Love” is a personalized approach which centers around providing individualized, one-on-one care with a focus on nurturing each person’s journey towards recovery. Additionally, our emphasis on mentorship ensures that individuals receive personalized guidance and encouragement throughout their recovery process, further enhancing their sense of belonging and progress towards a fulfilling life beyond addiction.

Compassion

Our unique approach to rehabilitation is distinctly client centered. It revolves around a philosophy of compassion, which forms the cornerstone of our treatment philosophy. With a team of dedicated counselors, therapists, and nurses, we provide unwavering support, kindness, and empathy to every individual on their journey to sobriety and wellness. By prioritizing compassion, we create a safe and nurturing environment where each client feels understood, valued, and supported, fostering lasting transformation and empowerment.

Empathy

Empathy is not just a tool in our arsenal; it’s the heartbeat of our client centered approach to recovery: We meet our clients where they are. It’s what allows us to forge meaningful connections, inspire hope, and empower our clients to rewrite their stories with courage and resilience.  An empathic treatment style fosters trust dismantles barriers to communication and helps ward off natural feelings of isolation and shame, so our clients are empowered to engage authentically in the healing process. Most importantly, our uniquely empathetic approach empowers those in recovery to become more compassionate to themselves: we work to ensure that our clients develop strong self-awareness and acceptance radical acceptance by the end of the program, ensuring a strong foundation for successful long-term recovery.

Understanding

Bonvie Recovery prioritizes understanding as a key component of our treatment approach. We take the time to truly listen and comprehend the complex challenges our patients face, whether they be physical, emotional, or psychological, and relating to them as individuals. By gaining a comprehensive understanding of each person’s background, triggers, and goals, we’re able to offer personalized treatment plans that address their specific needs and circumstances. Through this practice of understanding, we empower clients to confront and overcome personal struggles with courage and resilience, paving the way for sustainable recovery and personal growth.

Healing

Healing is at the center of everything we do at Bonvie Recovery. We believe that true healing encompasses not only physical recovery but also emotional and spiritual well-being. By addressing the root causes of addiction and providing comprehensive support, we give our clients the tools to create and sustain a life of renewed purpose, fulfillment, and sobriety. By prioritizing healing in our “Leading with Love” approach, we empower individuals to reclaim their lives and embrace a future filled with hope and possibility.

Family:

The Heartbeat of Recovery

At Bonvie Recovery we understand that family is everything, and we are committed to honoring and nurturing the vital role that families play in the recovery journey. Addiction and mental health struggles impact not only the individual but also their loved ones, so we provide comprehensive support to families throughout the recovery process. With our unique emphasis on family education and support, we strive to empower our clients and their loved ones to heal and thrive together.

Consultation

Bonvie Recovery prides itself on providing tailored consultation services to our client’s families to provide them with the education, guidance, and support they need to navigate the complexities of addiction and recovery. Our experienced professionals work closely with families from the first phone call to program completion and beyond to develop personalized strategies for supporting their loved ones in their journey towards sobriety. Through compassionate and informative consultations with our counsellors throughout the recovery process, we empower families to become active participants in the journey to wellness, and cultivate understanding, communication, and resilience within the family unit.

Codependency

Our director is an addictions counselor with a clinical expertise in codependency treatment. Therefore, addressing codependency is a crucial aspect of our approach to family involvement in recovery, and we do so with as much kindness, support and understanding that everyone in the unit needs during this complex journey to healing. Our specialized interventions focus on identifying and addressing codependent patterns so each family member can understand their role in addiction enablement, establish healthy boundaries and prioritize their own well-being. By helping our clients and their loved ones break free from codependency, we empower families to foster supportive environments conducive to sustainable recovery and positive growth for everyone.

Boundaries

Establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries is essential for fostering positive relationships and supporting recovery. Our specially trained team provides the guidance and tools families need to set clear boundaries with their loved one while still offering love and support. This education process aims at creating an environment that promotes accountability, trust, and mutual respect both during and after treatment. Learning about boundaries also ensures the avoidance of enablement, and the empowerment of clients to practice self-care, rather than contributing to their addictions.

Support

With virtual or in-person weekly family and peer meetings during and after treatment, support is at the core of our approach to family education and empowerment. We offer a range of support services tailored to the unique needs of the loved ones of our clients, including specialized counseling, support groups, and educational workshops. Our compassionate and experienced team provides a safe space for families to share their experiences, gain insights, and receive validation and encouragement.

Treatment Modalities: Your Path to Healing

Bonvie Recovery is committed to setting a new, uniquely advanced standard of care. Our approach to recovery merges clinical expertise with evidence-based practices, thus providing a creative blend of the foundational principles of traditional therapies and the precision of modern techniques, including:

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Grounded in rigorous research and clinical application, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a therapy program designed to help patients manage intense emotions and address underlying causes of problematic behaviors while offering more effective replacements. This type of therapy often adds a group component to one-on-one sessions, providing a collaborative space for learning practical skills such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. Research has shown the application of DBT is most effective in relieving:

–    Substance abuse disorders

–    Addictive behavior

–    Borderline personality disorder

–    Self-harm

–    PTSD
The “dialectical” aspect of DBT points to the cornerstone of this therapy: empowering patients to see that there are multiple perspectives on and solutions to the problems they face.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is another cornerstone of our treatment paradigm, rooted in the principles of cognitive restructuring and behavioral modification. While DBT focuses on the regulation of extreme emotions, CBT is more concerned with the problematic thinking which lead to unhealthy behaviors. This goal and solution-oriented form of talk therapy tends to be completed in a short timeline, and provides clients with practical tools to address their specific issues. For this reason, CBT has been clinically shown to be most effective for sufferers of:

–    Depression

–    Addictive Behaviors

–    Generalized anxiety disorders

–    Obsessive compulsive disorders

–    Phobia management
With a focus on identifying and reshaping maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors, CBT empowers those in recovery to change the way they behave by changing their “cognition” – or thoughts.

12-Step Approach

In addition to CBT/DBT talk therapies, Bonvie Recovery integrates the principles of a 12-step approach to recovery within our clinical framework to provide a holistic approach to recovery. Originally developed for Alcoholics Anonymous, 12 step programs and fellowships constitute the bulk of addition recovery treatments. They use the power of community or “fellowship” to help individuals overcome addiction and maintain personal-growth, introspection, and sobriety long-term. Within our program, individuals engage with the 12 steps through tailored interventions, peer support, and spiritual exploration, fostering a sense of belonging, accountability, and transcendence. There are various fellowships and community meetings available across Canada, and we take advantage of those in our area by offering residents weekly in-house meetings ran by mentorship figures in AA/CA/NA programs.

Individualized and Group Counseling

Our comprehensive recovery program prioritizes both individual and group counseling as effective therapeutic approaches to healing. Clients will benefit from this combination of therapies in different but complementary ways: primarily, clients will experience a sense of belonging and community in group sessions that is essential to a healthy recovery. Moreover, one-on-one therapy provides a confidential and tailored space for deep exploration of personal challenges, goals, and strengths under the expert guidance of our clinicians; group counseling supplements individual therapy by providing clients with a supportive milieu to develop communication skills, build trust, set healthy boundaries and foster relationships with their peers on the journey to recovery.

Trigger Treatment

Roleplaying in addiction recovery involves simulating new behaviors to replace unwanted ones, aiding individuals in overcoming substance use and relapse triggers. This treatment approach is particularly useful when individuals face anxiety-inducing situations that could compromise their sobriety. Implemented within individual or group therapy sessions, roleplaying equips clients with the skills to anticipate and effectively respond to triggers both in and out of treatment settings, ultimately reducing the risk of relapse. By actively practicing responses to potential triggers, those in recovery can enhance their communication skills, self-awareness, and environmental consciousness, fostering a more comprehensive and sustainable recovery journey.

Lifelong Recovery

Aftercare

Our “Lead with Love” approach to recovery continues after clients have left our facilities; we’re dedicated to helping our clients access all the resources and support necessary to sustain their recovery beyond treatment. Upon completion of our program at Bonvie Recovery, clients will collaborate with a team of counsellors, therapists and medical professionals to develop a personalized plan designed to set the stage for success in post-treatment life. This plan is tailored specifically to meet each individual’s needs, in order to assure as smooth a transition as possible; for instance, while some individuals may be ready to return home after their stay, others may benefit from a gradual transition to a lower level of care, such as “sober living.” Alternatively, those with demanding work commitments might find support from a sober companion or mentor beneficial. We work with clients and their families in the days following up to discharge to make sure each aftercare treatment plan sets everyone up for success.

Referral Practice

While each individual has different needs, we do believe that access to a compassionate psychotherapist for ongoing intensive psychotherapeutic support, akin to what was offered at Bonvie Recovery, is essential to a lasting and fruitful recovery. This includes holistic therapy: for clients who found adjunctive therapies like mediation, yoga, art therapy or reiki to be helpful during their stay. Our aftercare planning will be sure to help clients discover and structure such on-going therapies in their hometowns or wherever they are beginning their life outside treatment. Our “Lead with Love” approach to recovery continues after clients have left our facilities; we’re dedicated to helping our clients access all the resources and support necessary to sustain their recovery beyond treatment.

Outpatient Care

Returning home after treatment can evoke feelings of anxiety, as life may seem different post-rehabilitation. Facing various “firsts,” such as passing by a liquor store sober or celebrating holidays without substances, can be challenging. However, our team at Bonvie Recovery is dedicated to supporting our clients through this transition. Alongside the professionals overseeing your aftercare plan, our alumnae relations department is available to assist you in overcoming any unforeseen obstacles that arise. Whether through private meetings with our staff – who are committed to helping graduates build their dream lives in aftercare -, virtual check-ins, or weekly therapeutic gatherings open to alumnae, graduates of our program will be sure to find a supportive community of individuals who understand and have worked through similar experiences, and remember they are not alone on their path to recovery.

Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (VIOP)

When circumstances prevent in-patient treatment, our exclusive intensive virtual outpatient program (VIOP) stands ready to support you or your loved one in overcoming addiction and mental health challenges. Our program offers a holistic approach to recovery from a distance, integrating counseling, psychology, addiction education, and family care to ensure comprehensive care at the same level we offer on site at Bonvie Recovery. Enjoy the swift accessibility of our virtual programs with no waitlist, allowing clients to start at any time, even 24 hours after an initial telephone assessment with our team of experts. Bonvie Recovery’s virtual treatment program ensures clients can seamlessly integrate recovery into their lives while enjoying the comfort of their own homes and gaining the benefits of maintaining regular responsibilities and routines while on the path to healing. Our outpatient counseling approach incorporates proven programming for effective treatment of substance abuse and mental health issues, ensuring a well-guided path to recovery that is “Lead with Love” from a distance. Indeed, clients doing our outpatient treatment program will receive the same excellent and highly individualized standard of care with our team of experts making sure to offer the support necessary for a healthy recovery. After completing outpatient treatment, clients will continue to benefit from lifetime access to online counseling sessions, supporting ongoing sobriety maintenance and relapse prevention efforts with our in-patient alumni community.
